Still Alice

… just because butterflies’ lives were short didn’t mean they were tragic… See, they have a beautiful life.

I was so excited to watch this movie because of the Oscar Julianne Moore had won for her role, and friends – I was not disappointed.

This movie is absolutely brilliant. It doesn’t  have a slow start, nor any particularly boring scenes. All of the moments presented, contribute to the main aim of this film.

I personally think this film was made and the book was written so that we as normal people, who might have never experienced this tragedy, be it with a family member or friend, could understand what a struggle Alzhiemer’s really is.

You see, most of us just came to the conclusion ‘oh well, they can’t remember stuff’ but actually, they lose alot more. It’s not just memories fading, but the ability to do normal, everyday tasks.

This film represent the struggle in it’s full heartache. And it hits home. Once youncan identify with the main character, the movie has a grip on you.

Oh, and by the way – the camera work was awesome. It was refreshingly different, and unique. And it made everything seem so much more realistic.

I really do think that Julianne Moore deserved the Oscar she won. I also think that Alec Baldwin, who plays her husband, was a phenomenal supporting actor.

Although this movie is deep, I think everyone should watch it atleast once. Just for a bit of information and for your eyes to open. Even if you prefer a more violent, or laid back movie – just try.

Role-Models & Half-Wits.

SO – I did some research about really smart things celebrities have said. And I was so inspired after reading them all, and felt all inner-peace-y and stuff. Then I got bored with the new profound wisdom, and decided to see what stupid things celebrities have said and…boy, some of these people are really dumb-witted imbeciles.
All and all, I picked my favorites from both and decided I want to share it. May you be enlightened, and also convulse with laughter.

Quotes shared by the brighter few:

I stand quietly

This is beautiful. Makes you actually think about what it means to take care of someone so special.

Dirty, Naked & Happy

I stand quietly while you do somersaults on the bed as you aren’t being naughty, you are just trying to get your out of sync body under control.

I stand quietly by the toilet door every time you need to go, and come with you around the house, and sometimes even just across the room, because I know you can feel truly frightened when you are not near me.

I stand quietly at the supermarket checkout while everyone stares at you barking like a dog and blowing raspberries on my arms to cope with the buzzing lights.

I stand quietly while you tell the baffled shop owner that you are looking for shoes that feel hard like splintered wood because your skin can’t bear soft things.

I stand quietly when the attendant gives us scornful looks when I ask for the key to the disabled toilet because the hand dryer…

The Judge

Robert Downey Jr shows all of us just what an awesome and versatile actor he is with this heart-rending movie. Robert Duvall plays his role so brilliantly that it reminded me of someone with a similar problem. And that’s what makes a good actor, right? Yes! I loved the movie. Although, the near-ending made me want to punch Duvall in the face, but I understand that it was only piece of the puzzle, and the writer wanted us to be able to relate to Downey. Long story short – awesome movie, go watch it.

“You’re a shined up wooden nickel, Mr Palmer. A bully with a bag of tricks. But unlike you, I have one simple belief. That the law is the only thing that’s capable of making people equal. Now you may think that Mark Blackwell is white trash, and he may very well have been. But in the eyes of the state, his life matters. I’m going to impale your client on a first degree murder charge. And you get a front row seat.”

The Theory of Everything

Based on the life of Stephen Hawking, this movie is one of my ultimate fav’s. Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables, Jupiter Ascending) played his role so well, that you actually forget your watching a biography, and you believe that Redmayne suffers from Motor Neuron Disease (ALS). Eddie Redmayne won an Oscar for Best Actor in 2015 for this movie. I recommend it to all who adores a well written movie, as well as brilliant acting.

“There should be no boundaries to human endeavor. We are all different. However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. While there’s life, there is hope.”

Birdman (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

Brilliantly co-written, produced and directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. Michael Keaton (Batman, Beetlejuice) plays the slightly coo-coo main character. His role was wildly entertaining, and complemented the movie in itself. Emma Stone (Easy A, The Help) and Edward Norton (Fight Club) were just the icing on top. I recommend this movie to people with open-minds, and preferably observant as well.

“How did we end up here? This place is horrible. Smells like balls.”
